A 66-year-old man will spend the next 12 months behind bars after he was found guilty of causing severe injuries on two minors in an ‘experimental circumcision’ exercise.
With no experience in performing the rite, Rajabu Hussein tried to hone his skills on two, one-year old boys.
He committed the offence early this year, the Singida Resident Magistrate’s Court heard. The man met his fate at the court yesterday where Resident Magistrate Terrysophia Tesha ruled that he be jailed for 12 months after he pleaded guilty.
“After you admitted before the court that you committed the offence, I am sentencing you to a 12-month jail term for jeopardising the boys lives,” said the magistrate.
The State Prosecutor requested the court to hand Mr Hussein a stern punishment for putting the boys’ lives in danger.
“The accused circumcised the two boys while knowing that he isn’t a medical expert. I request the court to hand him a serious punishment,” Ms Mkina requested.
Hussein asked for the court’s lenience saying: “Your Ladyship, I am asking for your lenience because, at the age of 66, it is my first time to commit a crime.”
