TCRA Director General, Dr. Ally Simba told journalists yesterday that the quack offenders have used the names of Janet Magufuli, who is the wife of the President and Settlement Samia, who is Vice President frauds achieve them.
Dr. Simba said his authority finds that the perpetrators of the network established websites, facebook pages and blogs using the names of the great leaders of the country to extort money from the popularity of those people.
He said the scammers use the networks to deceive the public that there are opportunities to get loans or grants through self-help groups, popularly known as the wallet.
"For example there are con artists who set up a page of the social network Facebook for the title of First Lady Mama Janet Magufuli and name ma Vice President, Mama Samia Hassan solution they aim to secure financial gain," said Dr. Simba.
He added that according to article 15 of the Criminal Law Network of the Year 2015, anyone is allowed authentication on networks using the identity of another person.
He said the punishment for the offense defined in Article 15 (2) which states that conviction may be fined not less than Sh5 million or three times the value of which he had obtained it through fraud.
He urged citizens to be vigilant against social networks, websites and blogs that require that send money or donate anything to give them loans or grants.
